An opportunity has arisen for either a recent graduate or experienced chemist to join a growing environmental and waste management business at its facility in North Yorkshire. As a chemist you will be responsible for ensuring the transfer station remains compliant to the required H&S COSHH and ISO regulations. You will also assist with the day-to-day operation of the site by analysing incoming waste samples segregating them accordingly and compiling detailed reports on your findings.

To be successful as a chemist you should ideally hold a degree in chemistry or closely related discipline possess previous laboratory experience either within an industrial or academic setting and have a keen interest in environmental science and sustainability.

Chemist Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the day-to-today operation of the Transfer Station by working closely with other team members to maintain compliance and to promote high standards of safety.
  • Inspecting classifying and advising on waste segregation and compatibility.
  • Operating laboratory and testing equipment competently and safely.
  • Arranging and undertaking inspections servicing and calibration as necessary to promote reliability of plant and equipment measurements.
  • Advising on COSHH and safe handling / transport of waste from customer sites.

Chemist Requirements:

  • Hold a scientific qualification ideally within chemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • Possess previous laboratory experience either within an industrial or academic setting.
  • Previous experience within the waste management environmental or Hazchem sector would be highly advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to effectively manage your own workload.
  • Aptitude to learn develop existing skills and work successfully within a growing team.

Salary: £23 000 - £28 000 + Benefits – Pension – 20 Days Holiday + Banks – Mobile Phone – Additional Qualifications – Training

Hours rotate weekly: 6:00-14:30 / 9:30–18:00
