  • A growing FMCG manufacturer has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Graphic Designer to join its team. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of Technical Packaging Artwork to include bottle labels cartons leaflets CDU's and exhibition graphics across the different company brands. You will have previous experience in packaging design and be an experienced user of Adobe Creative
    The Role:

    As an artworker you will manage the successful delivery of specified project artwork on time through a focused attention to detail and an ability to control creativity and quality utilising your proficient graphic design and printing skills. Exceptional planning problem solving and interpersonal skills are key as you will work with an array of internal departments to ensure that all aspects of the internal and clients’ artwork are managed through the Production cycle.

    You will possess knowledge and experience across print-related product portfolios including bottle labels cartons leaflets CDUs and exhibition graphics.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ability to create multilingual artwork whilst maintaining consistency
    • Ensure artwork is achievable within print production constraints
    • Prepare accurate packaging artwork from approved designs and briefs
    • Liaise with the client following our packaging guidelines and design requirements
    • Ensure all quality control procedures are adhered to and all relevant documents are completed
    • Ensure that all images and files are complete and ready for printing according to the printers’ specifications i.e. Flexographic Lithographic Digital and overprinting in inline production or offline thermal printer etc.
    • Offer technical advice and ensure all artwork is achievable within print production constraints
    • Prepare and package all artwork for printing across all formats
    • Upload artwork to the relevant printer and approve PDF proofs pre-printing
    • Develop keep an up to date library of all graphics used within the business archive and/or generate a ‘to be destroyed’ list as and when necessary
    • Hold workshops when appropriate to educate team members on changes
    • Take responsibility for creating maintaining and improving the artwork ‘in-house filing system’ to ensure smooth transition of work through the various stages; from current / live work to archived
    • Work with the Creative Lead to select and obtain sign off for all images from all brand shots
    • Mark up and manage re-touching of all artworks through rounds of amends to completion
    • Ensure graphic design activities are properly recorded and all artwork files are properly identified organised and stored
    • Resolve queries directly with the project coordinator and /or proof-reader
    • Ensure consistency in hyphenation capitalisation formatting etc.

    Skills and Experience Required

    • Some experience of working on packaging artwork is essential
    • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator Photoshop and InDesign)
    • Experience in Microsoft Office products
    • Experience of creating Technical Packaging Artwork
    • Knowledge of artwork pre-press and repro’ procedures
    • Experience of the print industry and processes i.e. Flexographic Lithographic Digital and Indirect Thermal
    • Colour management experience
    • Proven experience of artwork creation and manipulation to a high standard
    • Ability to understand and execute instructions
    • Adhere to internal workflows
    • Manage own workload and keep to deadlines
    • Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills and the ability to flex when required
    • Excellent communication skills across all levels building strong working relationships
    • Ability to perform under pressure and operate in a fast-paced environment
    • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
    • Flexible approach and use of initiative
    • Motivated committed with a desire to learn from others
    • Strong team player and ability to work well independently

    Desirable but not essential

    • Knowledge of Bartender and CoLOS software
    • Understand the regulatory (TPD) requirements to facilitate compliant packaging
