A leading international process business is looking to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Technician (with some electrical knowledge) or Multi-skilled Engineer into each of their sites operating across the Argyll and Bute region.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that fault finding, diagnostics and breakdown repairs are carried out safely and effectively, working towards reducing plant downtime and achieve component life expectancy. Provide maintenance cover in support to the operation of the plant. Maintenance Technician will be responsible for repairing and maintaining skips, some minor repairs to mobile plant, as well as property maintenance/repairs to ensure utmost reliability and safety whilst reducing downtime. 

Key duties will include:

  • Ensuring repairs are completed safely, swiftly, completely, and economically.
  • Maintain up to date records of assets, calibrations and service histories as applicable
  • Ensure that housekeeping is to high standard.
  • Operating mobile plant & ensuring waste is dealt with to the requirement of our site licence
  • Providing support to all operations.
  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance practices.
  • Carrying out plant upgrades and modifications to the required standards.
  • Reporting through computerised maintenance management system all work carried out.
  • Implementation of a programme of planned preventative maintenance and inspection to minimise downtime, provide records of recurrent faulting and engineered solutions to these issues.
  • Anticipate machine failures and make such changes or recommendations to prevent reoccurrence to reduce downtime to a minimum.

The successful candidate will be
an experienced Mechanical/Multi-Skilled Engineer working in a process or production environment, with a fault finding and diagnostic approach, reactive breakdown repairs, planned maintenance work orders. A willingness to learn new skills and adapt to a changing environment as required is essential.
An HNC/HND/C+G (or Industry equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is preferable but not essential; however, your practical experience should be proven, some Electrical principle knowledge would also be advantageous.
Knowledge and practical experience of Conveyors, Chain Drives, Hydraulics is desirable.
The candidate will have good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with others, technical and non-technical. 
You must possess a valid UK driving licence.
You will ideally have experience working within the waste industry, but experience in other process based industries such as waste water, manufacturing, quarrying, agricultural etc. would be considered. Mobile plant licenses would be advantageous.

  • £25k - £30k depending on experience.
