Materials Technician

An opportunity has arisen for a materials technician to join a globally recognised packaging materials organisation at its state of the art facility in Oxfordshire. As a materials technician you will work as part of a like-minded team and provide technical support within the packaging materials department. You will carry out various physical and environmental performance tests on company products analyse test data and deliver result reports to customers where required.

To be successful as a materials technician you should hold a relevant scientific or engineering degree possess commercial experience within a related field and demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Materials Technician Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to the packaging materials department by conducting various physical and environmental tests on the company’s product samples.
  • Carry out analysis via microscopy and metallography review test data and deliver result reports to customers.
  • Take part in pilot plant trials where required look to resolve any technical issues and recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Work with the technical support team to ensure all requirements are dealt with and resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Liaise with other teams departments and external contacts to ensure the root cause of a problem can be identified and dealt with.

Materials Technician Requirements:

  • Hold a relevant scientific or engineering degree.
  • Possess previous commercial experience ideally within a materials testing laboratory or closely related environment.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with a keen eye for detail.

Hours of Work: 37.5 Hours – Monday to Friday
