Description

Our client is the industry leader in the manufacture of industrial fabrics and composite materials and seek a Process Engineer. The Process Engineer will be based at their Cambridgeshire UK manufacturing facility. As the Process Engineer you will provide process support to Manufacturing in the specification, commissioning and developing of plant, processes and products as well as quality leadership and expertise across all areas of the business through planning, investigation, project management and pro-active quality improvement activity. 
 

Process Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Undertake investigations, quality projects and data/statistical analysis exercises for the department to support customer and business initiatives and quality improvement. 
  • Contribute effectively in cross-functional quality improvement activity. 
  • Contribute/lead as appropriate continuous improvement and site specific quality projects. 
  • Support quality system and process reviews to ensure site QMS is robust and opportunities for improvement are addressed. 
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce manufacturing costs and improve product quality. Undertake champion tasks in areas including H&S, 5s, LEAN and Continuous Improvement
  • Undertake all quality activity in compliance with all relevant customer/material specifications, quality standards and health, safety & environmental (HSE) requirements.
  • Optimisation of current processes and supporting training initiatives.
  • Developing methods for responding to process variability and a consistent rational to permanently correct, document and implement them
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce manufacturing costs and improve product quality. Undertake champion tasks in areas including H&S, 5s, LEAN and Continuous Improvement
  • Introducing new products to the factory with a view towards optimisation of the process
  • Preparing standard data manuals for the preparation and maintenance of manufacturing standards - Liaison with both suppliers and customers (internal and external)
  • Preparing and maintaining plant operating instructions and being involved in training.- Preparing detailed equipment, acceptance and commissioning specifications for new and modified capital equipment and validating performance prior to hand-over to production

Process Engineer Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Degree level in a Chemical Engineering field or relevant discipline and be able to demonstrate relevant experience 
  • Relevant experience of working in a Quality/Manufacturing/Process Department. 
  • Relevant understanding of the working interface between globally linked sites and subsequent work experience within this environment. 
  • Clear understanding of process risk and application of risk and hazard assessment tools (eg FMEA, HAZOP)
  • Proven experience of problem solving in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies and tools (eg Six Sigma)
  • Proven experience of data analysis and data driven problem solving
     

Role: Process Engineer
Pay Rate: Competitive - in line with experience
