We require a Research and Technology (R&T) Technician to join an industry leader in the manufacture of industrial fabrics and composite materials. This is a pivotal role and you will be focused on supporting the R&T Process team in the effective delivery of research focused projects.

R&T Technician responsibilities include:  

  • Perform trials on pilot equipment, reporting the outcome of pilot trials and maintaining equipment
  • Responsible for safe functioning of pilot equipment. Occasionally, to support risk management investigations
  • Responsible for sourcing of raw materials and consumables needed for trials
  • Responsible for storage of finished samples and products
  • Responsible for undertaking defined projects, or carry out work in specific technical areas
  • Support Lab activity
  • Contribute in projects to upgrade existing pilot capacity and capability and to develop improvements to working methods
  • Communicate progress of projects, data from experiments to all necessary levels, by verbal or written communication, which could include technical reports and presentations to an internal audience

R&T Technician – Required Qualifications:

  • Ideally educated to HNC or equivalent along with a good level of experience working in a prepreg manufacturing environment, or similar
  • Sound understanding of mechanical principles and direct experience of machine operation
  • A background of working with and understanding pilot equipment and processes
  • Competent to undertake day to day activities with minimal guidance
  • Able to demonstrate a proactive and methodical approach to work
  • Competent IT skills
  • Awareness of good practice in terms of health and safety
  • Reliable with good time management experience. Strong team player – able and willing to actively contribute to project team
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
