Description

An opportunity has arisen for a PhD Biologist to join an established environmental research and monitoring organisation as a Scientist on a full time, permanent basis. As a Scientist you will carry out experimental research into the development of active fluorometer systems for phytoplankton physiology. This project will provide valuable experience of working alongside programmers, electronics engineers, and mechanical engineers in the development of new sensors.

To be successful as a Scientist you should hold a PhD in Biology (or closely related discipline) and have a strong record of experimental, research work in a biological field.

Scientist Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of robust protocols for running autonomous fluorometer systems and improving real time data analysis and post-processing of archived data.
  • This will involve a lot of experimental work and, consequently, the job requires good laboratory as well as analytical skills.
  • A high proportion of the work will relate directly to two externally funded projects.

Scientist Requirements:

  • Hold a PhD in Biology (or closely related discipline).
  • Possess a strong record of experimental, research work in a biological field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Forward thinking, innovative mentality.

Salary: £35,000 - £37,000 + Benefits – Company Pension Contribution – Life Assurance – 25 Days Annual Leave – Flexi Hours

37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday
