Cranleigh Scientific is an independent, family-run business offering bespoke recruitment services for the science and engineering sectors across the UK.

Since 2001, we’ve been carefully building relationships with all kinds of scientific businesses, from small start-ups to multi-national enterprises.

In the process, we’ve established a reputation as one of the most knowledgeable and effective companies in our industry. In fact, many of our clients employ us as their sole suppliers.

2002

Back to where it all began! Sally Emmett establishes Cranleigh Scientific with three members of staff. The team starts building strong relationships with Afton Chemical, Hexcel, Firmenich and P&G. So strong, in fact, that we’re still working with them today.

2004

We secure our first international pharmaceutical supplier contract.

2006

We win Best Overall Recruitment Business and Best Candidate Communication, and are nominated for Best Industry Knowledge, at the Recruit Rank Awards. We buy a cabinet.

2007

We break £1 million turnover!

2008

We place our 1,000th candidate, and reach 90% repeat business. That’ a lot of happy people!

2011

We partner with 100 clients across a variety of sectors – biotechnology, pharmaceutical, chemical, material, food and medical devices.

2012

We’re invited by Thermo Fisher to exclusively supply laboratory and technical staff to their sites across the UK.

2013

We make a huge investment in our search technology and database, providing our consultants with state-of-the-art tools. This pays off, dramatically improving efficiency and service delivery.

2015

Our founder, Sally Emmett, takes a well-deserved semi-retirement while Directors Alex, Gareth and Laurence take the reins. The business moves to a larger office in Guildford so we can keep on expanding. There’s no stopping us now!

2017

Our Health & Safety division is launched. At this point, our sales have increased 300% since 2011.

2018

We have 15 staff members; three specialist divisions; a science-themed, open-plan office with a games room; 200 regular clients; and are recognised as one of the leading technical recruitment companies in the UK. Plus, we’re entered in to the national REC Awards for Best Small Company to Work For (and not just for the games room!).

New Faces Welcome

New to the industry? No problem. You’ll be working closely with our experienced consultants. Starting as a resourcer, you’ll be trained to spot a good candidate – CV searching, writing adverts, managing responses, telephone screening and interviewing candidates. You’ll even be given the chance to train in the art of business development and client management. As a friendly, family-owned company, it won’t be too long before you feel right at home here.
